Well, we did it.
After six beautiful weeks, we found tiny kitty a new home where there are no birdies to eat. And not just any home–this weekend, we drove Tiny Kitty across Florida to my dear friend Gracie, her thoughtful son, and her exceptional cat (Puck).
I couldn’t ask for a better home for him to grow and thrive. Sometimes, the hard way is the right way.
“Are you going to cry the whole way to Miami?” Gracie asked as I stroked Tiny Kitty’s soft fur for one of the last times for the foreseeable future.
“No,” I assured her.
Then the Tiny Kitty formerly known as “Shakespeare” crawled into my lap, and I broke a little.
I did, indeed, cry all the way to Miami–and back home again.
Gracie knows me better than I know myself sometimes.
I am so lucky to have such incredible souls in my universe. I feel their absence so acutely, though–I threw myself into Duolingo today and passed checkpoint #3 as a result. So, two memories achieved in one weekend.
God Speed, Tiny Kitty. I love you, Gracie, and Cas so, so much, and I can think of no better company for each of you to keep.
Sometimes we have to let go. You had to choose and decided the best for everyone, even if that broke you a little. Big hug

In spite of it all, I would make the same choice again. The whole thing wrecked me for a few days, but we will all live happily ever after. 😀 And I’ll see little kitty (and Gracie and Cas!) again, which is the best news!
